Sheffield is home to more than 200 stunning murals showcasing the Kentish municipality's rich heritage, diverse stories and natural beauty. From pioneers and farmers to wildlife and landscapes, the murals capture the essence of this charming town and its surroundings.

The mural project began in the 1980s as a way of revitalising Sheffield and attracting visitors. Inspired by a similar initiative in Canada, a local committee invited artists to paint their vision of Sheffield on the walls of the city. The first mural was completed in 1986 by John Lendis, who agreed to work without pay until the project got off the ground.

Since then, Sheffield has become a hub for mural art, with the annual Mural Fest taking place every Easter. Mural Fest is a unique competition that challenges nine artists to create a mural based on a theme in one week. The murals are displayed in Mural Park, where visitors can vote for their favourite and enjoy live music, food and entertainment.
