Silverton, about a 20-minute drive from Broken Hill, is a historic silver mining town that had a population of 3,000 in the 1880s. Today it has only 48 residents (2021 census), but attracts thousands of visitors each year for its history, art and unique desert scenery.

Silverton is also home to some of Australia's most iconic and distinctive buildings, including the Silverton Hotel and the Silverton Gaol. Many of these buildings have been featured in more than 140 films and commercials, so you might feel like you've seen them before.
