157 Route | Individual Bus Stop Tracks
The idea behind this tour was to broaden the concept of a bus journey. Transport becoming not just a means of arrival, but the object of tourist interest in itself – the journey being just as important as the destination. The concept expands the scope of tourist interest away from central London and explores the history and cultures of lesser-known areas.Take this tour to find out how molten iron once ran down Anerley Hill, discover where the lost canals of South Norwood once flowed, and where there was once a 'Frog Island'. Find out about the hidden goat statues at the Goat House Bridge, admire the previously barren space transformed by locals into the colourful and newly-christened 'Sensible Gardens'. Discover the meaning behind South Norwood Clock Tower's colour, and how the area across from Selhurst Station came to be known as 'The Nest'.
