The Historical and Cultural Complex Stalin Line was founded to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Soviet People’s Victory in the Great Patriotic War and was opened to the public on 30 January 2005 in memory of the defenders of Minsk. The idea of this unique memorial came from  the internationalist warriors charitable foundation “The Memory of Afgan”. The territory of The Historical and Cultural Complex Stalin Line is about 30 hectares in size. Original pillboxes from the 1940s of the Minsk fortified region make up its historical background, with an artillery half-caponier, two- and three-embrasure machine gun pillboxes and a command and observation post (COP) among them. At present, two buildings are open to the public - artillery half-caponier № 134 and  three-embrasure machine gun pillbox № 292.These unique structures were a part of the defence system created at the beginning of the 1930s along the western border of the Soviet Union. This system is unofficially called the Stalin Line similar to the famous Maginot Line and the Mannerheim Line. There are also anti-tank and anti- personnel obstacles, and the positions of exterior defences are reconstructed as well as some engineering equipment of the border part. There is a wide range of the military equipment of the war and the post-war period - aircraft, armoured vehicles, artillery. In an artificial reservoir a ferry line and an engineering low level bridge, which were built according to the drafts of the war period, are displayed. After the visit you may try some soldier porridge in“Na privale” cafe, do some shooting from authentic weapon and ride in rare tanks of 1930's and 40’s.
