The Baturyn Fortress Citadel
Dear friends, you are welcomed by the Baturyn Fortress Citadel – one of the objects of the National Historical and Cultural Reserve “Hetman's Capital”. This is the heart of Baturyn during the Hetman rule, a recreated image of the castle of the XVII – early XVIII centuries. The architectural and memorial complex was built during 2008 on the initiative of the president of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko on its historical site using data from archaeological, historical, and architectural studies.The Baturyn Fortress Citadel covers an area of 1.3 hectares. Here you can see the following recreated objects: fortifications (a dry moat with a bridge, a rampart with a wall on it, an entrance and two blind towers, a palisade), the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, the Hetman's Residence, a Treasury and a well.The Baturyn Fortress Citadel is an open-air museum that invites you, dear visitor, to get acquainted with the administrative center of the Hetmanate of 1669-1708, the activities of Hetmans Demian Ihnatovych, Ivan Samoilovych, Ivan Mazepa, the place of formation of the national consciousness of Ukrainians and the development of the Ukrainian state.
