The award winning Port Macquarie Museum reveals the stories and secrets of Port Macquarie’s past and the people, places and events that have shaped the town and district, the traditional home of the Birpai people. The Museum’s exhibitions show Port Macquarie’s history from settlement as a British convict establishment in 1821 through to the town’s development as a popular tourist and sea-change destination today.

Port Macquarie Museum - Cya On The Road

The Museum is located in its State Heritage listed building and additions at 22 Clarence Street, Port Macquarie in the town’s CBD. Comprising fourteen galleries and display areas, allow plenty of time for your visit, as the museum is larger than it looks! The Museum’s collections are amongst the best in regional NSW. .

The Port Macquarie Museum has been telling Port Macquarie’s stories since 1957. Small admission charges apply and are used to care for the Museum’s buildings and collections.

The Museum is open Monday to Saturday from 10.00am to 4.00pm (last admission 3.30pm) and at other times by appointment.
