Humans’ obsession with their mortality is a global preoccupation. Medicine today continues to be shaped by religious, social, and practical methods. Artefacts from Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Africa demonstrate how humans have attempted to defy death and have a voice beyond the grave. Ranging from prehistoric trepanning tools to a virtual reality helmet, the objects encapsulate the history of medicine.
