After many years of preparation, with the kind support of a thousand monasteries and a million donors, the Buddha Museum was officially opened in 2011. This is not only just a new Buddhist site, it is also an accessible place where Humanistic Buddhist teachings are actualized.Based on Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s philosophy of giving others faith, joy, hope, and convenience, this place will bring people on a unique “journey of the heart.”

The Buddha Museum provides surprising joy to first-time visitors.When visitors first step into the Front Hall, they are usually struck with awe by the different kinds of facilities provided by the Museum. As they move into the Museum, they transit from the hustle and bustle into the serene Buddha Land.The Eight Pagodas in Chinese tower-like style line along the Great Path to Buddhahood. Visitors can learn about Buddhism through Buddhist scriptures, books, videos, and games.

The four permanent galleries in the Main Hall are installed with interactive multimedia devices to allow modern visitors to travel through time and space, and connect with the historical ideas of Buddhism.Through the creativity and dedication of Venerable Master Hsing Yun, visitors can learn about Buddhism with joy.

The Buddha Museum brings serene joy to all visitors.During the construction of the Museum, Venerable Master Hsing Yun reserved an area for building a lush and comfortable grove filled with the vitality of nature, so visitors can stroll and relax in it.At the Twin Pavilions, the “Chan and Tea are of One Taste”

Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s consideration has brought heartwarming joy to the visitors.The bus-shaped restrooms beside the carparks are designed to serve visitors who have arrived after a long journey.The obstacle-free facilities enable visitors to move around the complex without hindrances.The Waterdrop Tea Houses are accessible at different parts for the Museum and are open at all times to provide delicious food.The above facilities reflect the consideration Venerable Master had for incoming visitors during the time of construction.

When visitors enter the shrines in the Main Hall, they can get Dharma joy from prostrating and venerating the Buddhas.In the Avalokitesvara Shrine, the mirroring images of Avalokitesvara reflect the Bodhisattva’s great aspiration of fulfilling infinite wishes.In the Golden Buddha Shrine, the Buddha statue represents the integration of both the Northern and Southern Buddhist traditions.The Jade Buddha Shrine houses the statue of the reclining Buddha. Above the statue is one of the three Buddha’s tooth relics still in extant. Visitors can pay their respects to this museum treasure.This energizing journey will help visitors grow in wisdom and religious faith.
