Lexington, the Cultural Capital of Kentucky - Cya On The Road

You can stop at any time and start again at the same spot later. You can follow the route on your phone or simply listen as I guide you from one sight to the next. I’ll be giving you clear directions and the audio will automatically start playing when you get close to the next sight on the tour. Don’t worry if you need to skip a sight as the tour will pick up at the next location. One more thing before we get started – always be aware of your surroundings and be sure to obey all traffic signals.

Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachians, Lexington, Kentucky is known for many reasons. Most people know it as the home of the University of Kentucky or the Horse Capital of the World, but it’s also a town with deep roots in politics, religion, science and the arts. Once called the Athens of the West, Lexington was a center of cultural and wealth during pioneer times. Today, it’s home to about 750,000 people, who treasure its ability to maintain its small-town charm even as it grows. The downtown neighborhood of Gratz Park is a slice of historic Lexington; two hours here will give you a look at gorgeous mansions, a jewel box of a library, the namesake green space and some of the area’s loveliest museums.

Please note that visits to our second stop, the Monroe Moonsick Medical and Science Museum, must be booked in advance. Telephone: 1-859-233-8300.

Are you ready? Then let's get going!
