It can in fact be considered as the gateway to the land of temples. The temple is one among the five elements or ‘Panchabhoota’ shrines of Lord Shiva and represents sky or ether as the element and is unique that Shiva is worshipped as space and Nataraja instead of the usual linga form.

The town is located in Cuddalore district, 245 kilometers south of the state capital of Chennai and is easily accessible by road and rail.
