Echuca Port and Rail Heritage walk guides you along the banks of the Murray river to the Port of Echuca highlighting significant heritage structures that represent the thriving industrialised trade period of late 1800's. The tour is based on an era in the towns history that was ruled by the rail and the river, with the thriving murray river trade and influx in population. This National heritage site includes the Port of Echuca Wharf which is an example of the Murray River trade and is a truly unique surviving structure from the late 19th century. The Port precinct also is home to a fleet of Paddlesteamers which again is a unique example of the Murray river trade system and is a memorable tourist attraction that is iconic to Echucas heritage. This outdoor walking tour starts at the Former Victorian Railway Engine house and is 900 meters in distance, passing Henry Hopwwods Store, walking along the iconic Port of Echuca and Heritage Esplanade and ending at the Former Police Station which now holds the Historical Society Museum. on your way, listen out for the sounds of the Paddle steamers along the river and the hoofs of the Horse drawn carriages, as you wander through the buildings and heritage structures.Walking tour brought to you by: S.
