The first school in Ungarie was established in 1891 with 18 students. Seven years later is closed due to declining attendance.A new school in the current location was opened in 1917 with 30 students and by 1920 enrolments had increased and an extension was built. Enrolments peaked in the 1970s with between 200 and 300 students.
