The Communities that Shaped Carlton - Cya On The Road

This tour explores the impacts that the Jewish, Italian, and middle-class professional communities had on Carlton, paying specific attention to their expressions of identity and culture through businesses, food, and social activities. The tour chronicles the lingering impacts of different waves of migration and gentrification in the suburb that have made Carlton the place it is today.  Narrated by Christian Sella, this tour was compiled as a part of the Deakin University Masters of Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies. I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the area now known as Carlton, and the land on which this tour was compiled, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. This land and the sovereignty of the country was never ceded, and it remains Aboriginal land. I would like to pay respects to Wurundjeri elders past, present, and emerging.
