Pentridge - Past, Present and Future

Hello and welcome to Pentridge, what was once a prison for some of Melbourne’s worst and most infamous criminals such as Squizzy Taylor, Chopper Read and even bush-ranger Ned Kelly is now a bustling village in Melbourne’s north. This exhibit focuses on the site of what was once Pentridge Prison in Melbourne's north and has now undergone urban redevelopment to slowly become the new heart of Coburg.The following images will show you the changes that have occurred at the site from when it first opened in 1851 to the current works being done and will briefly touch on what is yet to come.
