The secrets of the church Saints-Pierre-et-Paul - Cya On The Road

The building in the heart of the village does not lack country charm, surrounded by a walled cemetery and vegetation. In 2011, the parish celebrated its millennium and the building was happily repainted on the inside. These works contribute to the enjoyment of the faithful and visitors. Today, the building made of local stone is as new. This was necessary after the terrible destruction suffered during the battle of the Ardennes in 1944. According to a charter of 1011, a church already existed in Dochamps. A slab embedded in a wall recalls another destruction in 1642, followed by a restoration carried out thanks to two local children, the Lamormainy brothers, priests, one of whom, Guillaume, was the confessor of Emperor Ferdinand II. The interior features a stucco ceiling made in 1955 and carved wooden panelling, the work of Victor Demanet. Also some beautiful wooden statues, the one ofChrist on the Cross from the 18th century, popular saints such as Roch or Anthony (19th century), and the baptismal font (17th century).
