Gruson - Cya On The Road

Nicknamed "Little Northern Switzerland", Gruson is a peaceful and hilly village on the heights of the Mark's right bank. Its name comes from the association of 'gruys' meaning 'gravel' and 'on' for 'brook'.History leaves us with the first memory of the Emperor Charlemagne, who is said to have possessed lands in manses or farms. These were later given to Evrard of Friuli who left a strong impression by founding not far from there, the famous and prosperous Saint Calixte abbey of Cysoing in the 9th century. If nothing remains of the Carolingian past, Gruson remains a village where the agricultural footprint is visible at every corner of its streets, alleys or vorets.
