The arboretum was created as soon as the Botanical Garden was established in the Parc de la Tête-d’Or in 1857. It contains the oldest trees, some of which date from that time.This zone includes around 600 species of deciduous and coniferous specimens. The collection has exotic species as well as regional varieties.
