This tour attempts to conceptualize places and histories of shame within the discourse of difficult heritage by examining Holocaust memorialisation in central Berlin. Drawing on specific sites, it explores the uses of the past to establish an image of contemporary Germany. It does not comment on the effectiveness of each site, but instead uses central Berlin to conceptualize commemorating places of shame in the discourse of difficult heritage, making these ideas accessible to the general public.
