Water Museum of Venice: Villas and castles among waters and the Euganean hills

In the past, the Euganean Hills were characterized by a thick network of small navigable canals which were connected to the main waterways of medieval origins and enabled to get easily to Venice and its Lagoon: the Battaglia and Bisato canals. Today, the splendid villas, castles and historical gardens with their wonderful water games, can be visited and admired with their calm waters: the same waters which allowed the Venetian aristocracy to get here on small boats directly from the Venice Lagoon.Difficulty: easyLength: 19 kilometresTime: approximately 2 hours Where to leave: from the centre of Battaglia Terme, reachable by train. Also, you can get to Galzignano Terme, by bus from the Battaglia Terme train station, and start form there. Quite well known to excursionists for the beautiful cycle itineraries, it has many bicycle hire and cyclist equipment shops. Along the way there are restaurants and other places to refuel and try out local produce.
