The State Tretyakov Gallery invites you to take a walking tour dedicated to one of the artists of the Art Nouveau and Symbolism period: Alexander Golovin. As one of the reformers of Russian theater, he joined a select group of other notable painters such as Konstantin Korovin, Isaac Levitan, and Mikhail Vrubel, who defined new paths of development for Russian culture at the turn of the twentieth century. We invite you to become acquainted with the Moscow that the artist knew: take a walk through Moscow's theater district, see outstanding examples of Art Nouveau architecture, and visit the places where Golovin's close friends lived. You will learn how the most famous hotel in Moscow, the Metropol, was built, how Constantin Stanislavski lived out the last few years of his life, who created the famous curtain with a seagull for the Moscow Art Theater, and what Art Nouveau architecture and theatrical sets share in common. We will give you directions so that you can stay on the right path, but if you look at the map on the screen of your phone, you will find additional guidance.Have a pleasant walk!
