ST PETERBURG, RUSSIA

St Petersburg is one of the world's most historically important cities. For decades under the Soviet Union it was called Leningrad - because this is where the Communist Russian Revolution began. It was besieged for nine hundred days by the Nazis. But it's origins go back to Peter the Great in 1703. It's a fascinating city with great architecture and great atmosphere. From the Winter Palace to the Peter Paul Fortress and historic monuments like the Cruiser Aurora. In a second, shorter tour we'll take you out of the city to the fabulous Peterhof and Catherine palaces.
