We know Narcís Oller by the nickname "father of the modern Catalan novel." Because he was the one who laid the foundations for a literary genre in Catalan that gained European prestige at the end of the 20th century.Oller was born in Valls in 1846. As a young man he moved to Barcelona, where he died in 1890. He never left his contact with Valls, to the point that he dedicated many pages to his work. Valls served him as a starting point and as a stimulus to create "VILANIU" and to make other novels.
