How can we use sound in exhibitions?Sound is not only an interpretation device, it is a whole experience. Intangible, intimate, relational, it deeply connects us as human beings. At its core, all sound design is audience design. In this exhibition, eight student groups from the MA Museum Studies have explored how to create and curate sound as a designed experience in the museum.Listen up! Leicester is a sound exhibition in eight parts, combining soundscapes, voices from the university archive, musical interludes from the city and spoken word from those who live here and call Leicester 'home'. The eight sonic installations can be experienced across the University of Leicester campus and, for the first time ever, as online tours. Are you ready to walk between different dimensions with sound as your guide? This exhibition was supported by the Unlocking our Sound Heritage project, led by the British Library with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
