Welcome to the Museum of Richmond’s special tour celebrating 75 years since VE Day when Nazi Germany’s surrender signalled that World War Two was coming to an end. My name is Esme Loukota and I am the Curator at the Museum. The Museum of Richmond holds about 5,000 objects in total; ranging from domestic history objects, to textiles, toys and games, ephemera, archaeology and some art. Whilst the collection is fairly small we can tell some really interesting stories. For this tour, I have selected a group of objects that shed some light on how people celebrated Victory on and after VE day in 1945. Enjoy!
