Hello and welcome to the Transformations of Woolwich podwalk! Our names are Will Rathouse and Cat Gibbs, and we're archaeologists. Together we’ll be exploring the many clues and forgotten tales of Woolwich as we travel through time. This walk is about 2 miles long and should take you about 1.5 hours, unless you decide to stop for lunch or a coffee at the many cafes along the route! As you may be able to tell from the name of this walk, we’ll be exploring how over thousands of years the different communities in this area have changed the landscape. They’ve repurposed buildings, altered how people work and even changed the way we experience the area. We'll be finding evidence of the impact that people have had as we make our way through Woolwich! This podwalk was produced by MOLA as part of excavation work on behalf of Woolwich Leisure Centre and Greenwich Borough Council.
