Memorable locations (I had frequented while attending Otakon)
Otakon, founded in 1994, is an annual convention that celebrates asian popular culture (anime, cosplay, video games, music, movies, etc) held during the late summer season. Historically, Otakon was held in the Baltimore Convention Center located on West Pratt Street in the heart of downtown Baltimore. But this year (2017), the convention has been relocated to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in D.C due primarily to overcrowding and safety concerns. Otakon was at one point the third largest convention of it's kind, drawing fans from all over the east coast, west coast, and aboard. Memberships peaked in 2013 with over 30,000 attendees, but there was a -19% drop in 2015 with only 26,877 fans in attendance. Since then attendance has been steadily increasing again, but many fans are not happy with the location change. Not only are fans displeased with having to spend more money in terms of hotels and parking as D.C. is not known for being cheap, many of leaving behind years of memories made at the old location. I made this tour guide to document locations I had often visited and saw as markers for what made Otakon a memorable experience for me.
