A Tour of Poe's Baltimore
Nearly 170 years after his death, the spirit of Edgar Allan Poe still dwells in Baltimore. What is it about Poe that makes him so popular today? And why is Baltimore so integral to his legacy? These are the questions we will explore in this FREE tour of Edgar Allan Poe’s Baltimore, exclusively for you Johns Hopkins students! We will begin by visiting the Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum—Poe’s one-time home as a young poet. From there, we will stop by Westminster Burying Ground—Poe’s final Baltimore residence. We will then pay a visit to a very popular Baltimore Raven. And our last stop will be a meal at the beloved Baltimore classic—Annabel Lee Tavern. Along the way, we’ll learn about Poe’s life and work, and take photographs documenting our own views of Poe’s Baltimore. You don’t have to worry about driving, parking, admission fees, or dinner—all of that is included with your registration, thanks to an Arts Innovation Grant. Just be sure you have your camera or phone, and an appetite for a fun learning experience.
