Tufts University Campus Tour - Cya On The Road

Welcome to the Tufts University audio tour! We're glad that you're able to join us today, whether you are listening from The Hill or listening from home. My name is Kamille Bernard and I'm an Economics and Political Science double major from West Hartford, Connecticut. While most of our campus tours only include one guide, today you'll have the opportunity to hear about Tufts from many of us! During this audio tour, you will hear about some of the prominent spaces on our Medford/Somerville campus, and even some stories from our experiences as Jumbos. Before you meet the others, I'd like to start us off by sharing some basic information. Tufts is a medium-sized research university with a culture of a liberal arts college and a focus on student-relationships, research, and civic-engagement. Our 5,800 undergraduate students pursue majors in one of three schools: the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering, or the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, which we call the SMFA. You can also double major across the Schools of Arts and Sciences and Engineering, or you can pursue a Combined Degree, which is a 5 year program allowing students to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the SMFA and either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Sciences from the School of Arts and Sciences. Though we do have three undergraduate schools, Tufts truly is one campus community. Our interdisciplinary curriculum encourages students to pursue a wide variety of interests and allows for a diversity of thought in the classroom. For example, in my Environmental Policy class I had many fellow Economics or Political Science majors as well as Environmental Science majors, Environmental Engineers, Biology Majors, and so much more. No matter what school you attend at Tufts, you will be able to pursue a variety of interests across all three, and even have access to opportunities at our graduate schools, including the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and Tufts School of Medicine. Tufts students commonly pursue a mix of majors and minors.  The Tufts community is known for being intellectually curious along with being civically engaged, kind, and lively students as well as global citizens. .
