Gasworks Park used to be a coal and oil gasification plant until 1959 which heavily polluted the local environment. Now it is a lush green park with the remnants of that plant still left behind as a reminder of what it once was. It is a picturesque park visited by many due to its aesthetic and amazing view of the city. It is covered with lush green grass that serves various purposes for visitors. But it was not always like this. This tour will talk about the history of the landscape during its preindustrial, industrial, and postindustrial time and focus on how this changing landscape has impacted the surrounding natural environment throughout time.
