Harrisburg was incorporated into the state of Pennsylvania in 1812, although the area was inhabited by indigenous peoples as far back as 3000BC. Harrisburg is the capitol city of Pennsylvania. It is roughly eight square miles in the city proper. The population is 50,099 per the most recent census.  Harrisburg is indeed a small city. However, this city boasts a healthy amount of culture and beauty. There is a robust night life and a healthy support of the arts.
