2022 celebrates the 200th birthday of Frederick Law Olmsted. Evergreen Museum & Library will be offering a self-guided walking tour around our property highlighting the interactions Olmsted and his sons had with the Garrett family.Frederick Law Olmsted was a renowned landscape architect and conservationist. He designed several world famous landscapes, like New York City's Central Park, the U.S. Capitol Ground in Washington, D.C. and the expansive garden of the Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina.The Garrett family were part of Baltimore's elite class, having made their money as merchants, bankers and railroad presidents. Two generations called Evergreen home and left their vast book and art collection to Johns Hopkins University. On this short walking tour, we will explore the suggestions that the Olmsted family made in regards to the Evergreen property.
