Willow Springs Park

📍 Long Beach, CA, United States; Signal Hill, CA, United States

Estimated distance & time: 1.9km / 39 mins

Willow Springs Park was established in 2012. Long Beach and the land that is now Willow Springs Park is Indigenous land, part of the original and current home of the Tongva people. In 1920, Mayor William Lisenby envisioned a 200-acre Water Lands Parks. However, in 1922, the discovery of oil in the area interrupted that plan. Oil extraction was the primary use of the land until the park's establishment. Today, the Office of Sustainability, the Parks, Recreation & Marine Department and community partners work to restore and activate Willow Springs Park.
