Tiger Bay Wetlands Walk - Cya On The Road

Take a moment to familiarise yourself with the app. If you're using the browser on your phone rather than the izi.TRAVEL app, some of the guides and prompts for this audio walk will not be relevant. On your phone, tap on this screen to read the full introduction. You can also download this walk before you start by tapping the download button above on the right of the image of Tiger Bay. It's about 66MB in size. It means you can access the walk without needing mobile service. This audio walk is best experienced using earbuds or headphones—or ensure the volume is turned up on your phone. The audio will play when you come within range of each stop on the map. You can also play the audio by hitting a numbered stop on the map and pressing play in the player. Not all the information in the audio has been transcribed in the text (Read Description) sections of this walk. You'll have access to more information by using the audio and clicking links in the text. Hello/ Yaama Welcome to Tiger Bay. This is the traditional land of the Wayilwan people. Rivers are for people, wildlife and sustainability. This is our vision as a not-for-profit organisation founded in late 2008. We’ve been working the length of the Wambuul/ Macquarie River and into the Macquarie Marshes/ Maliyanga ngurra, for the past decade. RiverSmart established the Window on the Wetlands Centre in Warren in 2015—an education, recreation and cultural centre next to Tiger Bay Wetlands. We run school-based and adult education programs about how to look after our waterways. HOW TO USE THIS APP When you're ready, click CLOSE at the bottom of this introduction. Then, click the START/CONTINUE button above to let the walk guide you around Tiger Bay, starting from the levy bank near the church. The walk audio starts at the levy with safety and guidance information, and an Acknowledgement of Country. Each time you come within range of a numbered stop on the map, the audio will automatically play on your phone (GPS triggered). To see photos for each stop, tap the photo above the audio player and swipe left. To see the caption for each photo, tap on the photo once—you'll see it come up at the bottom of your screen. To go back to the first photo, swipe down. To find the text for each stop with additional links to things like bird lists and more, click on the three ··· in the bottom right of your screen. You can also hit the PREVIEW button above, swipe left as instructed and see each stop, playing the ones you're interested in. There's also a full map view or list of the stops in the top right of your screen. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS This walk was produced with the support of a Telstra grant through the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR), Warraan Widji Arts – Warren Performing Arts and Language Place Inc., Zoey Daley (Wayilwan), and Kim V. Goldsmith. FURTHER INFORMATIONCheck our website for more information about the Window on the Wetlands (WOW) Centre and RiverSmart Australia. There are links in the app text or on the Walks page of the website to the Tiger Bay Info page with more about some of the things you may encounter during this walk, including bird identification apps you might find useful. We'll refer to those throughout the audio and in the Read Description section for each stop. For more information about what to do and see around Warren and the region, including how to access the Macquarie Marshes, drop into the Visitor Information Centre at the WOW Centre during opening hours. You can also book a visit to the Marshes via the Burrima Boardwalk online.
