Kortkeros village

The village of Kortkeros is the administrative center of the Kortkeros districtof the Komi Republic. The village is located just fifty kilometers from the capitalof the republic of Syktyvkar on the left side of the Vychegda River. The origins of the village's name goback centuries. Translated from Komi, "court" means iron, "keros" – mountain, elevation.The current Kortkeros was one of the centers of metallurgy. Thelegends of Korn Ice (Iron Father-in-law) are also associated with the processing of iron. Perhaps these are fairy tales bornof a rich human imagination. But there is no smoke without fire.
