Nature park “Daugava River valley”

Welcome to the  nature park “Daugava River valley”. The park invites you to walk roads and trails on the banks of the Daugava River, picking up vitamins offered by nature, to let your eyes wander around meadows and to listen to old stories.This nature park is partially situated in old Skriveri, Aizkraukle and Jaunjelgava regions - today in Aizkraukle municipality. It was established in 1987 to protect the stage of old valley  of Daugava River with all terraces formed by the river, which have stayed untouched during construction of Plavinas hydropower plant . The main value of the park are broad-leaved forests on the main banks of the old valley, rare and protected species of plants and animals found in meadows, as well as cultural historical objects. This nature park is included in the list of protected territories of the European Union.
