The new Ithaca of the Mediterranean - Cya On The Road

The New Itaca of the Mediterranean has its origins in Joan Bennàssar's 2016 exhibition entitled ‘Ports d'Alga Marina’, which evolved to 2022 with the presence of more sculptures throughout our municipality.Joan Bennàssar's sculptures aim to transform Can Picafort into the cultural hub of the Bay of Alcúdia and to make culture one of the primary assets of tourism in the town.Joan Bennàssar is an internationally renowned Mallorcan painter and sculptor, known for his unique style that fuses classical influences with a contemporary and symbolic expression. He has exhibited in leading galleries and cultural spaces in Europe. His work, deeply rooted in Mediterranean identity, explores the connection between human beings, nature, myth and history. Bennàssar uses art as a tool to recover roots, awaken emotions and reflect on the present from the wisdom of the past.
